Movie Preview: Your Highness

The boys (and girl!) are back in town.

Zooey Deschanel. Natalie Portman. No, I’m not talking fantasy. Yes, you are awake. Disregarding any appearances they may have had together in some very delightful dreams of yours, believe it or not, these names spell a movie in the making.

Portman

Your Highness, by David Gordon Green (the man who brought us the cult classic Pineapple Express), is an upcoming comedy destined for theaters in October of this year. Deschanel is slated to appear as a virginal bride named Belladonna, with Portman starring opposite her as Isabel, a princess of the Xena warrior variety. AKA—sexy bad ass. Could you picture her any other way?

It’s a fantasy comedy, starring Danny McBride and James Franco as two princes on a quest to save their kingdom—and rescue the alluring Deschanel from the clutches of evil wizard Leezar (Justin Theroux). One brother is your traditional knight in shining armor, while the other is a drug-addicted, alcoholic lady chaser. I’ll leave it up to you to guess who’s who.

Deschanel

This movie’s been compared to Army of Darkness and Krull, which tacks on a few more pluses to the show. Factor in Green’s previous experience with Pineapple Express and the solid cast he has going, and this sounds like one to keep your eye on, even if the plot doesn’t sound like much to go on as is.

If nothing else, fan boys everywhere will hopefully be getting a dream fulfilled, watching Portman and Deschanel staring longingly into one another’s eyes, dreamily caressing…uh…anyways, I know I’ve got *my* fingers crossed.
